Attention ladies of the world! Have you had enough of home, and just want to lose yourself in a beautiful place for the next couple of years? Well, guess what, you are in luck because Sweden has just been voted the world’s best country for women.Yesterday, the list of annual Best Country ratings (prepared by Y&R’s BAV Consulting and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania) were published. Wondering what the best country overall in the world is? That honour goes to the mountainous land of Switzerland.
Unsurprisingly, The United States fell four places to number seven (#Trump). Sweden was ranked number one in a variety of categories, including the best country for women, the best place to raise kids, and the best country for green living.
It’s really no wonder the country has been voted the best for women: it offers pregnant women free and subsidised healthcare, has one of the most generous paid parental leave policies (which also includes men), parents also get 480 shared days of paid leave (they have until the child is 7 to use it up) and the government also forks out a monthly allowance per child to help cover child-rearing costs until their 16th birthday. Politically speaking, half of the nation’s ministers are women. Is it too early to start moving?
